Ana Carolina Santos, a research scientist at the University of Luxembourg, focuses on promoting healthy aging in vulnerable populations, including immigrants, through non-pharmacological interventions and identifying risks and strengths, and examining the influence of socioeconomic factors on health. With a solid foundation in Psychology and a PhD in Basic Psychology, recognized with an Academic Prize, she has extensive experience working with older populations in various research centers, including Harvard Medical School’s Neuromodulation Center (Spaulding Lab).
Ana Carolina’s research interests center around cognitive aging, cognitive neuroscience, and non-pharmacological interventions such as cognitive training, neurostimulation, mindfulness, and health literacy enhancement related to aging, as well as, the intersection between aging and migration.
She was engaged in scientific projects funded by organizations in Luxembourg, Portugal, and Brazil, with a notable track record of publications, presentations, and teaching psychology students. Currently, she is the Principal Investigator of the IMILUX Project, which investigates the impact of immigration on the health and well-being of older immigrants in Luxembourg, exploring socioeconomic, cultural, and health variables to identify disparities and promote health equity.
